The Friends of the Oakland Municipal Band

The Friends of the Oakland Municipal Band is the all-volunteer group which presents the Oakland Municipal Band.

Our musicians

The Oakland Municipal Band employs local professional musicians during the summer season, which is often a slow season for musicians. It is an opportunity for these artists to be part of an established musical organization. This acclaimed municipal concert band also helps promote the artistic image of the City of Oakland.

Expanding OMBs links to other organizations

In recent years, the band has been performing music from the shows to be performed by Woodminster Summer Musicals, and we hope to be able to expand our links to other organizations in this way.
To further this end, the Friends of the Oakland Municipal Band are working with local schools to establish programs in cooperation with the Oakland Municipal Band, such as opportunities for summer programs, and the chance to work with professional musicians.

Funding

Due to the financial restraints of the city, the concerts must be privately funded. Donations to the Friends of the Oakland Municipal Band pay for the concerts. The Friends of the Oakland Municipal Band also organizes the volunteers to provide support for the programs of the Oakland Municipal Band. We welcome donations of money.
The Friends of the Oakland Municipal Band is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation, and is a non-profit 501 ( c ) (3) organization. All donations to the Friends of the Oakland Municipal band are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.

Become a Voting Member

All donors to the Oakland Municipal Band become members of the Friends of the Oakland Municipal Band. Members who donate $100 or more are voting members.

The Friends of the Oakland Municipal Band provides the funding, administration, and all of the behind-the-scenes work for the Oakland Municipal Band. It is an all-volunteer organization. We welcome new volunteers.
