The second concert of the 2019 season of the Oakland Municipal Band will be this Sunday, July 14, 1:00 pm at the Edoff Memorial Bandstand in Lakeside Park, near Childrewn’s Fairyland. Come hear Maestro Andy Collinsworth Strike Up the Band!
The program is available at our website, https://www.oaklandmunicipalband.org. Click on Next Concert, or you can download it directly from https://oaklandmunicipalband.org/wp-content/uploads/Program-20190714-Booklet.pdf.
We are grateful to all of you who helped us set up for our first concert on July 4, and hope that we can count on some of you for the next concert.
We also thank all of you who have donated to make these concerts possible. Each concert costs about $5000 to pay the musicians, and your contributions are bringing us closer to that goal. If you leave your contact information, your contribution will be acknowledged promptly.
Bring friends! We have lots of room. There is enough room for dancing, which you are welcome to do any time during the concert, as long as it does not get in the way of the Children’s March! (Did you know that Sousa’s band was very popular for dancers?)
One additional note: Our clarinetist Tom Rose will be presenting a free all-Brahms concert on Tuesday, July 16, 12:30 pm at Old Saint Mary’s Cathedral at the corner of California Street and Grant Avenue in San Francisco, part of the Noontime Concert series: An additional free concert by our clarinetist Tom Rose, July 16 in San Francisco.
